Event's DetailsSidcup Calling is an annual all-day festival to celebrate our local music scene, eat some good food, get boozed up and raise some money for charity. Organised by local musicians Tom Monks and Liam Shipton, this event will showcase an eclectic lineup of what is just a small selection of a huge, amazing and diverse community of local acts - with a mixture of pop, rock, folk, blues, soul, skiffle and everything in between.
The event will be held on August Bank Holiday (Monday 27th August) at The Iron Horse in Sidcup - the area's finest live music venue, run by an awesome management who have continuously supported and encouraged our community non-stop since they opened in 2014. Traditionally we use August Bank Holiday to celebrate the anniversary of the birth of our original live music community, which six years on has since grown into a vibrant scene of local talent, creative freedom and mutual support.
As well as celebrating our community, we also like to use this day as an opportunity to raise money for charity. Sebastian's Action Trust is a charity dedicated to supporting families of seriously-ill children, and last year we raised nearly £700! We're aiming even higher this year - in order to do so, we will be holding a raffle, so feel free to donate some prizes! As well as that, Liam or Tom will be continuing the tradition of doing something incredibly stupid for money - last year it was a chest waxing, this year... who knows?
We appreciate that it's a long day, in the middle of summer, and whilst we tend to belong to the "eating is cheating" camp, we are hoping to have a barbecue set up in the pub garden for those of you that can't hack it - weather permitting, of course.
If you'd like to celebrate/discover the local music scene which is putting our hometown on the map, have some lovely food and a drink or ten, and raise some money for an incredible cause, clear your diaries and come down and be a part of it!
Please note, we are not currently accepting requests to perform! If you regularly support the open mics, the venue and the local scene leading up to the event, you'll be approached for a slot. Keep an eye on this event page, and we'll publish when we confirm acts.
